SMA staff members have close working relationships with various state and federal regulatory agencies, including the various divisions of CDPHE, Colorado DWR, the various bureaus of New Mexico Environment Department (NMED), New Mexico State Land Office, State of New Mexico Oil & Conservation Division (OCD), Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), New Mexico DOT, Arizona DOT, Texas DOT, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), State of New Mexico Oil Conservation Division (OCD), the various departments of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as well as the various organizations associated with permitting and the acquisition of right-of-way for construction projects, such as the railroads and the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer (NMOSE). These relationships not only keep SMA apprised of the most current regulations, but also allow for efficient navigation of administrative processes which might otherwise delay project schedules and unnecessarily deteriorate project budgets.
